2018 GIRLS VOLLEYBALL SEASON REVIEW

The Finney Falcons volleyball team had a strong year, earning #3 ranking for sectional play and advancing to the semi-final round, where they fell to #2 Batavia Notre Dame. Coach Cassie Blew notes some season highlights, "After losing a tough game to Gananda in our season opener, we beat them in a 5 set match mid-season. We beat Aquinas twice this year. It’s the first time we have beaten them in my 4 years at Finney." It's actually the first win over Aquinas since 2006, when the teams went 1-1 on the year. Coach Blew also highlighted their "exciting match to beat Kendall in quarterfinals of sectionals at home." Gabby Ziegler led the team with 288 kills and 68 aces, averaging 14 kills and 3 aces per game. Ziegler was also selected for the Sectional All-Star Team for Class D3. Sarina Pasquantonio led with 404 assists and 92 aces on the season, 19 assists and more than 4 aces per game. Maddi Peters won the Most Improved Player award, while Gabby Ziegler and Sarina Pasquantonio were both awarded MVP. Alisabeth Crandall received the Coaches' Award.
